Hi! Thank you for visiting OUR classroom
page! My name is Ms. Toni Hotzfield
and I am so excited to be a part of the Palos West School Community! I wanted to take a brief moment and
introduce myself to you. I have been
teaching for about 15 years and then some.
I first began my career as a Kindergarten teacher in 1992. My
experience really progressed at Indian Springs District 109 where I taught
for 8 years, (Kindergarten 4 years, 3rd grade 3 years, 3rd-4th
Multiage 1 year, 4th grade 1 year).
I began my career here in Palos School District 118 in 2007. I am currently teaching 5th
grade.
I have developed a
passion for working with Curriculum and Best Practices as I moved up the
ranks to the intermediate grades. I
have recently taught grades 3 and 4.
I have many experiences using and presenting in-services to fellow
colleagues and students on Best Practices such as Guided Reading,
Reciprocal Teaching, and Q-A-R (Question-Answer-Relationships). My recent achievements include the
following:
*Establishing an
Animal Curriculum Unit for a District -Wide third grade program
*Wal-Mart’s Teacher
of the Year in May of 2006
*Presenting Guided
Reading and Integration techniques to colleagues during Teacher Institute
Day
*School Improvement
Committee
*Being an active
member of my school community
I hope this gives you
a little background about me. I
believe in being an active member in my school community. I have an open door policy and am excited
to be working with you this year! Please feel free to stop in and introduce
yourself! If you have any questions
or concerns, please feel free to write a note or e-mail me at thotzfield@palos118.org.
I am
looking forward to a great year full of learning adventures and
discoveries!
