Classroom Activities

The students having been using a portable word processor called  the Neo. They are very lightweight and can be used anywhere. Students type various assignments and then the information is beamed to the computer. The students can then correct any errors. For more information check my links page. Also these portable word processors have a program called Co-writer.  They assist the students with word prediction if they need it.

On our computers we have a program called Write Outloud. This is a talking word processing program. This allows the students to hear what they are typing. We use this program to beam our writing from the portable Neo’s.  Often times after the students hear what they have written they self-correct. In addition we have the same prediction program Co-Writer on the computer if the students need it.

I find that the students create longer sentences and are grammatically correct. Check my links page for more information.

The students use Speaking Homework Wiz to check words they are not sure of the definition or the correct pronunciation. These are small portable devices that assist students when they are unsure of spelling, pronunciation, or definitions of words.

My goal for my students is to become independent writers and readers with success.
