Mrs. Swan

Who I am

I’m Lori Swan, and I teach 6th,7th, and 8th grade gifted language arts at Palos South Middle School.  I have been at South since 1998, and I have been the ALPS teacher since 2002.  I also sponsor Student Council, coach Declamation, and serve on the board of directors of the Illinois Association for Gifted Children.  Currently I co-chair the  education committee.

Education

I earned a B.A. in English from Illinois Wesleyan University, an M.A. in Education from St. Xavier University, and an M.A. in Gifted Education from Northeastern Illinois University.

Interests

My husband Steve and I have an adorably bad dog named Holly McDuff.  She’s a scrawny, hyperactive, white terrier mutt.

I adore all things Disney.  The first time I went to Disney World Steve had to drag me, kicking and screaming.  Then, I never wanted to go home!

I’m a gamer and love to play all sorts of games.  I enjoy theatre, travel, old movies, and reading.  My favorite genres are mystery, fantasy, historical non-fiction, and biography.
