Welcome to 7th grade
language arts. I have high expectations for all of my students, and I will
work hard to develop and expand their educational and personal growth, so that
they not only become academically adept, but also become mature individuals
ready to accept the challenges in their future. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary
Education from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL and received my Master’s
Degree in Educational
Administration and Supervision from St. Xavier University. I have taught language arts in District 118
for 20 years. I also enjoy coaching
the 8th grade boys’ volleyball team and the girls’ track team. I am married to Jim Sesterhenn, retired Palos South 6th grade
teacher, and have two children, Kelly, a sophomore at Drake University in Des
Moines, Iowa, and Dan, a junior at Lincoln-Way North H.S. This subject includes reading, writing,
speaking, listening and the study of literature. In addition, students must
be able to study, retain and use information from many sources. Through the
study of the English language arts, students should be able to read fluently,
understanding a broad range of written materials. They must be able to communicate
well and listen carefully and effectively. They should develop a command of
the language and demonstrate their knowledge through speaking and writing for
a variety of audiences and purposes. Parents and students can always communicate with
