Fines
Kindergarten thru Second Grade-We do not charge fines for overdue books; however, students must return an overdue book before an additional book may be checked out.
Third thru Fifth Grade-Fines accumulate at a rate of $0.05 a day after a three day grace period.  If a book is returned three days late, there is no fine; but if the book is four days late the fine is $0.20.

Lost or Damaged Books
Students who lose or damage books beyond repair will be charged the replacement cost of the book. Parents may give permission for their children to check out more books while lost books are being looked for by contacting Mrs. Curran.  Bills for damaged books will be sent home the next school day.  Bills for a lost book will be sent home upon request or at the end of each quarter.

At Palos East we strive to teach our students to select their books independently.  If you notice your child is bring home materials at an inappropriately high or low level of difficulty, please discuss this with your child first.
